scratch on electric blue

Im not sure if my fish got in a fight and he bumped into a rock or what, but i noticed a scrath that is red along the side of my electric, what do I do? Do I add anything to the water to help him recover? Do i just do more water changes? Im at a loss here on what i need to do to make hime better. He swims around like it is not bothering him though.

my oscar actually just did the same thing...he put a gash on his head from running into a log when i turned off the lights last night....

given that your water is very clean, i wouldnt worry about it too much.

to be on the safe side you could do a water change and possibly add some aquarium salt to help with his slime-coat, but it is probably not a necessity.

how bad is the wound?

the electric is about 3 inches long, maybe about an inch high at the wounded area. the wound itself is probably half a inch to 3/4 of an inch, right behiind his gill. The water is very clean and I have been adding salt so I geuss Ill just wait and see, he doesnt show and signs of injury though.
