The Ge are 6500K and I don't think the LOA were. They were still called daylight bulbs though. Also, through practical experience the LOA bulbs grew much more algae than these seem to do. Now, I've still been successful growing plants with the LOA bulbs, but the difference in algae growth is significant. The success may have been in spite of those bulbs instead of because of them.

DON'T buy CF lights at the local Dollar Mart. hehe, the ones I had slightly exploded. Never had any issues like this with the LOA or GE bulbs.

The biggest issue I ran into with these (CF lights) is that in large numbers they do tend to make things warm under the hood.

I agree. Get quality CF lights. Even though I did not use them in my hood, brands also make them for ceiling fans and light fixtures. I have had a few crack, melt, and give off a horrible smell.

Well I just went to Home Depot and bought some GE CF bulbs that are 6500K.. Just shut off my hood, and am letting the lights cool so I can switch them over.....

So I'm pretty pumped to get my tanks/plants going... I am going to do my DIY CO2 going.. and start dosing with ferts as well..

Anyone have an opinion on when I should start with the ferts,,,,
