sea horses

once i get my marine tank up and running i am considering getting a sea horse of two as these look realy cool. what i want to know as do thay have any special requirments and how difficult are thay to look after.

Plants, low flow, no agressive fish around. It's not a very good beginner's fish

theres been alot of seahorse threads, youll find all ya want to know on witht ht search,
just type seahorse and restrict to saltwater general, I came by alot of threads that looked usefull

they are very tough, picky eaters, need a ton of special requirments, including basically a species only tank. probably not a good idea for when you start out.

I always feel bad for the seahorses I see in local fish stores. Most of the time they're in the most possible unnatural environment for them... aka, too many fish in the tank, no hiding spots, no plant life, etc. Only once in a store I frequent I saw a great collection of them in an environment filled with plants, some inverts, anemones, and no fish! They often use seaweed or plants to anchor themselves in current environments.

Yeah, seahorses are a VERY bad idea for a beginner. They're right up there with moorish idols and octopus for ease of care.

my lfs has an awesome seahorse/pipefish display with all kinds of grass and other plants...they also have black sand and a black background which makes the colors really jump out
