Sometimes. Vague answer to a vague question.

They will behave the same as coral sands, and if your pH or kH is low they'll push it up.

That's typical of Calcite based sands/gravel. They'll take it up to 7.4, 7.5, stop dissolving and it stays there unless you use pH up or whatever. Aragonite, a different crystal form of CaCO3 is good to 8 or so. Sea shells are variably calcite or aragonite or a mixture.

Similar question. I have a barnacle cluster ( so got some cream from the doctor!!!)...and wonder whether i can add it to a tanganyikan tank, will it do too much damage to the pH and hardness levels?

I doubt it will do a thing. If it does anything it will only help.

And you'll get a nice nautical theme going. This could easily go downhill

no, shells u should worry about messen ur pH level at all, especially if ur first cycling ur tank...my almost two week old tank has finished being cycled and its pH lvl was at 7.5 today...so if ur tank is pretty new, i heard that the pH won't throw off the pH
