seachem purigen??

*celebrate ...i have read that this seachem purigen is good for water quality...especially hepling with yelo brown or green water...has anyone used this and does it do what it says ......would like some opinions on this product from people who use it

I dont think its to improve water quality, as much as get rid of discolorations/cloudiness in the water...but I haven't used it.

well today i added the purigen and it says its for polishing and helping with murky green water...says its as good as having a diatom filter....i guess we will see what happens...all i know i am getting tired of the water in my tank...

It sounds like it's the same as Accuclear... these only work if you have a good filter that can pick up the "clumps".

i have 2 penquin 170 running....i assume i have enough water being filtered...i really hope this works cause i am getting tired of the murky and green water

i use it , it works great , you dont need a powerful filter for it too work it isnt ment for removing "clumps", its for removing impurities
from the water it will make you water much clearer , the other good thing about it is you can regenerate it.

why did u start usuing it and what was ur water quality at the time...and how long did it take to notice the difference

i first started useing it with my SW tanks just for a good media in my filters and then i used it on all my tanks , now i only have one tank and i use it there, i never noticed a difference because my water was never murky, i use it mostly too absorb impuritys from the water and any accidental spikes in nitrate, nitrite or ammonia

do u use it on a constant basis....how long do u keep the bag of purigen in the filter...i notice after a few days it turns brown does that mean i have to take it out or do i change it every week....the instructions really dont tell u what to do

when it gets brown or black regenerate it , since its brown you know that its working on removing stuff. i leave it in my tank all the time

well it turns brown in a couple of days it seems....do i take it out soon as it gets all brown or can i leave it in a week or more before replacing it or rejuvinating it....basically how long days it take before u replace it

when it gets really dark, it depends on the tank as to how long it takes

iv regenerated the stuff i have now 3 times, you will notice that the small beads dont all turn the dull white color after a while and you will know when its time too chuck it, mine usualy last 6months.
