Seahorses?

Is there such thing as a freshwater seahorse?? Also, I hear that saltwater seahorses are endangered and therefore can't be kept in a home aquarium, is this true?

most if not all of the seahorses you see in pet stores are farm raised. Seahorses breed very readily in home aquaria.

I have a LFS that sells them. I also know someone who had them shipped to him.

but we still don't know if there are any brackish or FW species yet...I hope someone would confirm that.

I couldnt find anything on google about brackish water seahorse, but anything about FW species says "It's called a SEA horse for a reason" so I'm guessing there is no FW.

pipefish are closely related to seahorses, and I believe some are FW.

yes pipe fish are FW, but is that the closest I'll ever get to owning a FW/brackish "waterhorse" lol

there is an article stating that, biologically speaking, nearly any saltwater fish should in theory be able to be converted over to freshwater if their diet contained decent amounts of sodium.

of course, I personally am very tempted to start a 10 gallon nano saltwater with 1 tomato clown and see if I can make a freshwater nemo.

rofl, doom i hope you realize what you're doing. I wouldn't want that nemo to start getting it's skin corroded. I'd imagine its fairly painful...
