yeah that kinda seems like overkill at 600+ GPH. I'd go with a Maxi-jet 900(230 GPH) if I were you.
yeah im using the maxi-jet 900 on my 10g. i used to have my maxi-jet900 with my 1200 (295gph) but i aimed it at each other so it wasnt soo bad. i took out the 1200 since it was kicking sand everywhere and creating sand mountains...

i had a rio 120 but i stoped using it since it made a clicking noise...so im using that to mix salt...

the point is 230gph is more then enough. if i could i would make a network of tubes to divide that 230 gph.

how about the Hydor Koralia 1 it is 400 gph and it is take 4.5 watt??i don't want something that is going to heat my tank.
yeah that is a great "circulation" pump but much of a power head...
when the flow in lets say a maxi-jet gets jammed throught a 1/2" hole that kills a lot of the water flow...

the hydor pump is great tho. but thats pretty much all u can use it for...circulation

sure why not. since its a circulation pump it shouldnt kick up too much sand.

fyi just handle the shroud with care because they are extremely fragile. if i had one i would make my own and maybe zip tie it so i can take it apart to clean it.
