So I bought this expensive rUGF from a LFS and tore the old 20 high down last night as the Red Sox lost, and I have a good solution to a stand. We have this 2 drawer file cabinet and no good place to put it so I thought...hmmm tank stand. It is just the size for a 20 high, sturdy and I put a piece of cloth around it to make it look a bit more attractive and secured the cloth with strong magnets in the back. This way we can take the cloth off easily to get in the drawers and replace the cloth with no problem.

I'll post a pic of the tank when I get some plants in it, etc. I really like how the rUGF is quiet quiet quiet. I am running the HOB for a while so I don't have to go through a big cycling thing, but soon the HOB will be in a box waiting for an emergency use or something.

Thanks for all the ideas about filters btw. It really helped me to get to a decision.

Oh man. I bought new gravel for this setup from a garden center--because it is stupid to buy from a pet store--and forgot the FIZZ test thing. Checked the pH this morning and it is so high..I'd never seen that color before...ugh.

Start over...

Sorry to hear the gravel didn't work out :(

I use the white gravel I took out of a tank for making gravel trays for my houseplants. (2" of gravel at the bottom of the decorative pot that the plant sits in, kept moist, makes the plants happy :) ) Or for putting as a mulch on pots outdoors to keep the weeds down :)

I think it sucks to pay $13 for a bag of gravel from the LFS too :(
