I've shipped fish before. I chose to do it when the weather was warmer, though.

If you can get polystyrene boxes and bags from your LFS, it won't cost anything ;) If you buy them, the boxes are about $4 each. There are often shipping supplies for sale on Aquabid.com (if it's up and running again). If you're sending more than one betta, you can put several in one box (separate bags, of course).

I shipped my fish overnight, I'm not happy sending 2 or 3 day delivery. Shipping depends on weight, so using a little water as is safe is cheaper.
