Just thought I'd share a quick story about a Plecostomus named Pizzaro. When I was young (and a very poor fishkeeper), my father had a nicely stocked fishtank, probably a 20 gallon one. He bought a little Plecostomus to keep the tank algae-free, and I called him Pizzaro. Pizzaro grew quite large over about two years (about a foot long), and then my father decided to get rid of his fish, so I took him and put him into my 10 gallon tank. There wasn't much algae for him to snack on, and no real plants, so the poor dear had to eat regular flake food! He was so cute, though, when he fed. I had a comet goldfish, a weatherloach and Pizzaro, and they would all come to the surface when I opened the lid. Being that Pizzaro had his mouth on the bottom, he would poke his nose above the surface and eat the food. I loved him so much! I eventually gave him to a pet store because I found it cruel to keep him in a 10 gallon tank. As for the other two, the goldfish died of old age I guess (I had him for five years and he was fairly large) and so did the weatherloach, who liked to hide inside a shell, and ended up dying there. Don't know why I felt like telling this story, but I did. I smile when I think of Pizzaro.
