Shrimps

hey guys--i just would like to thank all of you guys for your help and great information. my nano tank is doing so great!

i just have another annoying question


i have a pistol shrimp in my tank which is doing well burrying himself in every hole posssible. my question is that i was curious in knowing if i can add another shrimp in my nano --like a cleaner shrimp-
do you gys think they would fight or would they be ok-

i wouldnt really think they would fish if you added a bamboo shrimp.

i wouldn't add a bamboo shrimp as they are fresh water. i think a cleaner shrimp would be fine.

bamboo shrimp are freashwater i have a couple of them in my tank

that should be fine. I have 5 cleaners and a peppermint in with my pistol. He never leaves his bolt hole so.....

do you monitor your iodine levels--- they say you have to keep your iodine levels high
so that you shrimp/hermit crabs can molt
honestly-i never added or checked iodine--
do you check or add iodine in your tank?

my hermit crabs molt just fine

I havent checked or dosed iodine or any supplement in my tank and the my cleaner has molted twice since Ive had him. My hermits were molting as well (gave me a bit of a scare when I had them).


I think you should be fine without dosing or checking iodine levels.

Your other shrimps seem to be doing ok right?

i dose iodine but I have alot of inverts and I only dose every couple weeks.oh and my shrimp shed every couple weeks.

most salt brands have acceptable iodine levels--when i had cleaners, they molted regularly (I added no iodine or other supplements)

Iodine is super unstable, so unlss you think you need it and are prepared to dose every day don't bother.
