I have an African cichlid that I've had for over 5 years. I got her from someone who didn't want her anymore as she was in a tank alone for so long and became very aggressive. I have her in my 20 gallon tank with my snail farm (raised for puffer food).
A few days ago I vacuumed Louise's tank and did a water change (used tap water but used the tap water conditioner, same thing I've done for 5 years). The next day I noticed Louise having trouble breathing, not moving around much and not eating. Thinking I might have done something and changed the water quality I tested the water. Everything was good. Then a day or so later white marks (but not ich) started forming on her body (mostly the top half and none on the fins however she was clamping). Then I took a picture into my local pet store. Not surprisingly they didn't have a clue. Now her fins are starting to almost rot off and they are red.
I have been searching the internet and I'm almost sure it's a parasite. It kind of seems like they are tiny worms coming out of her. Almost looks like anchor worm or fluke. Would fluke be all over her body like that and come on so fast? I read that with fluke you can see worms moving and eyes on them. They're too small to see any sort of movement or eyes.
(how do you post pictures and Ill post one if it helps)
Please help!!!
