I bought a lilac betta (James) 2 days ago. He was fine on day 1, swimming about, no signs of any disease or anything. I have a 10gal divided betta tank. The other 2 have been in there for ages, and are fine. But this one has now got something wrong with his tail and top fin. I've posted a pic to see if anyone can tell me what it is. Could it be a burn off the heater as he sits kinda close to that? Or finrot?
Thanks for your help.

I put in the meds as soon as diagnosing his condition, but sadly 24 hrs later he died. 12 hrs after that my brown one died, no apparent injuries or obvious disease. The shortly after my red one died too. I have no luck what so ever with these beautiful fish, so to spare future fighters any misery I will cease to buy anymore and shall enjoy looking at MFT's bettas. Thanks for the advice though rev.

I'm sorry that they all died of fin rot (even tho the second two didn't look like they had any symptoms). You should probably let the tank cycle before putting anything else in there - other fish don't do well with fin rot, either.

I hope that you get to keep safe and happy fish in that tank sometime soon.
