About three weeks ago, my blue gourami jumped out of his tank and developed what looked like a fungal infection on the site of impact. I treated him with Maroxy, and the infection went away after a few days. He appeared normal afterwards, returning to regular swimming and eating habits.

In the last few days, however, he's stopped eating and is constantly flaring his fins as if in distress. Instead of normal poop, this white stringy stuff is coming out and the front part of his abdomen appears slightly bloated. What disease is this, and how can I treat it?

Attached is an image of the "poop", circled in red.

All right, I'm guessing that this is caused by a secondary bacterial infection, based on some things I've been reading. The bloating makes me afraid it might be dropsy, but it doesn't look terrible yet.

I won't be able to get to a store to buy Maracyn-II until this Sunday. Until then, I'm going to resume treating him with Maroxy, which according to its directions can also be used to treat some bacterial infections. Hopefully he'll hang on until I can get him the Maracyn... he hasn't eaten for about three days.

I'd really like a second opinion on this. Anybody have any thoughts?
