Hi. I'm really sorry i cannot provide water parameters as i went to my lfs yesterday and they did not have a kit. i will post them asap.

i have a dwarf gourami that has had a red sore on its upper lip for a few days. i noticed that he was doing clear stringy poo as well. i went to my lfs and they advised me to treat with Interpret no.9. I have dosed the tank once having removed my filter pad as i was advised to do on the beginner's forum. but my gourami is looking really bad today, very bloated and not maintaining his balance properly, floating lopsided or even vertically.

i'm really worried. i don't doubt i need to change my water but the medication says not to for a week or so after the second treatment.

i had another dwarf die very recently from a mystery disease where he basically wasted away.

please if anyone can suggest what i should do next i would really appreciate it.

Ive lost 4 dwarf gouramis over as many months, they lose interest in food and hang back in the tank, they fade away literally (they lose colour)Ive been told its columnaris so I suggest you check it on the net and see if the symptoms are the same , it is treatable .Im not expert enough to tell you how to treat this is just a possible cause of your gouramis death Good Luck

I've had maney dwarf gourami's for maney years, gouramis are very hard fish to take care of they shouldnt be the kind of fish a stater shoulf get. Gouramis get sick very easy, your whole system might be doing great you add a gourami and then he starts getting sick i had this happen maney time to me. One ofmy gourami's i once had got a red sure on his mouth, far as the stingy poop i really think you shouldnt warry thats a sign he is eating. if you fish is swiming funny always check the temp for a FW tank you want to have that temp around 76F feed your fish twice a day and give them blood warms and brine shrimp it always helps them. i had a female gourami completely fade off her color she is the one that i got and didnt want to east was hanging out in the back all the tme if something like that in thatcase get a net i call it a breeding net put it in your tank and have the sick fish in it and feed it as you would every day and look out for him and give it some time and see there is always hope. one other thing i advice you to do when you do you water change the water you put back in it make sure its filter water you can get some in a reef supplie store for a daller and gallen and the water change should be about 10% every week and add stress coat. good luck
