I was wondering how long you all leave these in the tank? The back of the package says 2 hours, but what if they don't eat them in 2 hours? If I were to leave them in over night would this mess with the water quality of my tank? Just curious, I want to be ready when I add my pleco!

I have always left algae tablets in overnight, they are always gone by morning. I make sure to put them in "last thing" before turning off the lights for the night so the other fish don't avail themselves of them. I assume my pleco gets them (as he has developed a very robust buddha belly) but I have seen my Clown Loaches go for them a bit as well. I never put in more than 1 or 2 an evening, typically 3 nights a week.

I've never noticed any water fouling, but I have a 55 gallon with an abundance of filtering.

I leave mine in until they're gone...which is usually by the next day...I put them in at night as well. The plecos and clown loaches like em, and the cats in my 20 eat em too...

Not only does my pleco love them, but my paradise fish nip at them too. So it never goes to waste, if the pleco doesn't get them, the PFs will.

just noticed this thread... and i agree, your pleco will probably eat some of the tablet, and your other fish will enjoy it too.

if you can, i like to break em in half and drop them at either end of the tank... so hopefully they get to everyone.

My rubberlip won't have anything to do with it, but my betta loves it. I just ended up not putting anymore in the tank my betta gets enough to eat as it is. Not only will he not eat algae tablets but he won't eat veggies either, I guess he is getting full off of what algae there is in the tank.

Which brings me to a question...my 55G is home to 2 plecos...they're about 3½" long...how do I know they're getting enough? The tank is soooo clean, I'm concerned they're not getting enough to eat? I put in a few of those spirulina discs for them about 3 times a week...
