I am looking at getting a Penguin 350B Bio-Wheel Filter for my 35gal. tank. This filters 330 gph., for aquariums up to 70 gal. Is this filter to much for my tank and is it possible to over filter the aquarium?

thanks

Not familiar with the 350B, but if it has a flow control I would go with that unit. I always size my filters one up from the recommended size for my tank. While you don't want a "washing machine" re: the current, I've found this not to be a problem. Floating weeds or dense surface weed growth will dampen some of the current action. Also, a rule of thumb is 7-10 water changes per hour. Given a 35G tank that is 245-350gph for your 35. So IMO the 350 should do just nicely.

your fish would be swirling around at the mercy of your water flow. :D

it is really difficult to actually "stress" a lot of fish this way, but some of the more sensitive species (angels, bettas) probably would not appreciate extremely high flowing water.

the penguin in your tank will not cause a problem bro.
