Slime coat troubles

My pleco's slime coat has ben doinng some pretty weird stuff, such as coming off in sheets. I put in some anti-fungus and that seems to help for a week or so and then the slime coat starts sloughing off again. Is this a disease, or is my pleco reacting to water chemistry? This has really got me worried! Heeeeeelp! Please?

There is a slime coat disease/sliminess of the skin. It can be caused by parasites like ich. It's usually a grey/white looking mucus. The recommended first treatment is to use an antiparasitic/ich med.
