hi, i'm having problems with some slimey purple algae. After i clean out my tank it completely covers the gravel and rocks in around 2 days. the pH nitrate nitrite and ammonia levels are normal and the SG is fine. I've tryed treating it with a medication "kent poly-ox" recomeded by the fish dealer but it hasnt worked.
does anyone know what i should do?
thanks,
philippa

Sounds like red-slime or bubble algae. What are the parameters of the tank? You need to keep an eye on Phosphates & Silicates. These tend to make nuisance algae or others thrive like no tomorrow. Overfeeding is also a culprit for this. Water changes and good filtration will eliminate that problem of waste food.
