Slow Filter

My filter used to run pretty well, so it would kind of squirt it out the top to like it is supposed to. Now, it just dribbles a little, and is quite slow. should I take it apart and investigate, or just clean it pretty well?

Take it completely apart and clean it really good. When all my filters slow down like that, that's what I do and when they get started back up, good as new!

Just rinse the filter's media in your water you are changing out during a water change, not tap water, or you will destroy your biofilter.

What type filter do you have and what size? I don't understand the "squirting out the top". Doesn't the water just flow? And what is your tank maintenance schedule, like vacuuming? The filter can't keep your tank clean.

Nevermind! I scrubbed the bottom where the water goes into the filter, and the filter is acting normal, now!

Yes, I mean flowing off the top, like a small waterfall. Once a week, I take out about 1/4 to 1/2 the water, vacuuming the gravel.

I don't think this is the exact thing I have, but this is as close to my filter that I could get.
