Small Cichlids

Are there any Cichlids, besides the GBR and Bolivian, that stay small?

Yep, the Kribensis, there really bright and colourful and they stay small.

I was wondering the smae thing. I wanted to start a 10g and put in some sort of dwarf Cichlids. But very where I go dont have any except downtown and that is a pain since they usually only have 3 Rams once a month.

Thats actually a very nice looking fish, unfortunately I've never seen one in a store before. That site says it's very hard to find and I guess they are right. Does anyone know of any sites that seel them?

Apistogramma and Laetacara are some others. Depending on what you are looking for there are also some small cichlid species from Lake Tang.

You mentioned GBR and Bolivan - there are also Gold Rams that are very nice.

Apistogramma would be a choice, but they are usually harder to find the rams and kribs.

Kribs are quite popular and its amazing a site would ever call them rare to find.

Personally i find that most of the kribs out there, minus wild caughts acctually look like crap. To much bad breeding has left them faded in color. Same with rams a lot of the time, hard to find good stock.

I usually find Rock Kribensis around here. I dont think those are the best choice for a small tank though.

There's actually a Cichlid called the Dwarf Cichlid. lol


Dwarf Cichlid (Apistogramma sp.)

It grows to about 3.5" and they are Semi-Aggressive. Look at the profile for more info

The Dwarf Cichlid, commonly known as the Apistogramma, is a dainty, often brightly-colored cichlid. This genus contains approximately 70 species, 20 of which are still waiting for scientific evaluation.

These include GBR's, Bolivians, and any of the Apistos. It's not one specific cichlid. When they say Dwarf Cichlid, they are talking about a group, and not a specific fish.
