I'm setting up one of my 2gal hex tanks again for my newest betta boy, Amun (still not sold entirely on that name). I haven't had a filter (sponge or otherwise) in the 2gal hexs in the past and always had trouble with keeping them clean, etc. So, I want to set up a small sponge filter for this tank to see if it helps. I don't want anything too huge because it is a small, kind of oddly shaped tank (it's tall, but not too big around). I was looking online and found this: A 5 Minute DIY Sponge Filter, by Sam Davies I have all the stuff to do it...but my biggest concern is that the fish food bottle is BRIGHT yellow and it'll looks ugly in the tank. I don't want anything to detract from the asthetics of the tank or Amun. Could I maybe use one of the taller betta cups (like they sell the bettas in at Petsmart, not the flatter, wider cups they have at Petco) instead of the yellow food container? It would be WAY easier to hide than the bright yellow fish food bottle.
Here's where I'd position it in the tank:
Sorry, guys! I fixed that first pic in Photobucket after I posted it, but MFT doesn't want to recognize that it's been rotated.
