ok..here is my story. working for Hagen as a summer student I got myself a nice price for an aquarium so I bought it, installed, bought a couple of fish, gravel and a piece of wood (african I think). All my tank now is full of snails. I don't know how come. They appeared a few weeks after the setup, and now (3 months later) all my fish are dead. I saw them eating the "baby snails" and they are dying after. My plants are dead too, the snails took great care of them. They are groce and so many. I bought chemicals, (3 fish in a shot died than) but not a single snail. I got out all the water, cleaned everything (got at least 30 snails in the filter) ... for nothing: 1 week later they have appeared again. I think I'm going crazy, I relly don't know what to do. My tank is so beautiful (was) and I don't want to sell it or something like this. Any ideas on how to get rid of the snails, and why i got so many? :(

yeah.. I will try. But they are so many. Do you think that the clown leaches are able to eat all the snails. some of them are big. every week I remove at least 30 snails (and some of them are so BIG). man , they are climbing the walls, you can find them on the driftwood, all over the place, it's a nightmare. and i don't even know how come I got them.

manually!

Before you put any plants in your tank you should wash them quick under running water and see if they have any parasites like the snails. As it might be painful you will have to do it manually to get them out, else rebuild your tank.

Depending on the snail, they are not nesseccarily bad. Of course without knowing what type, its impossible to say if they caused your plants to die. Maybe you can describe them or find a picture?

Btw, did you take any water parameter measurements like ammonia, nitrites, nitrates? Did you cycle the tank? Do you have any C02 injection, fertilization? What kind of lighting? What kind of substrate? What size of tank?

THe more info, the better we can help!

i know how u feel... after getting a plant for my tank i noticed a baby snail in the tank... i thought it was cute, so i didn't remove it. ugh! I TOTALLY cleaned out my tank and removed 50 by hand before having to boil the fake rock and gravel...now many weeks later, apparently one survived... it is in the tank somewhere... i've seen it 3 times, but i haven't been able to remove it... i hope you solve your problem!
