Ok, so I bought A(1) snail to put in with my pirhannas because i figure it may be the only thing that can and will survive in the tank ha ha. Anyways As far as I've read snails reproduce sexually (I know they are hemophradites so if you have 2, you'll soon have hundreds), but my question is, HOW IS MY SNAIL REPRODUCING THEN!!!! ha ha in a week I now have 5 other baby snails all over the place, which I don't mind, I just know that it will get out of hand soon. lol.... So I guess, anyone know if there are snails that reproduce asexually?

And if it does get out of hand I'm just moving the snails to the clown loach tank they like'm a lot lol*BOUNCINGS

Yes, alot of snails reproduce asexually and it sounds like you got you one of them! What kind of snail did you buy? Was it an apple snail? I didn't think they did but I could be mistaking. I have a boat load of common pond snails that started with one. Maybe that is what you got. Good luck with the problem. Yes, I am sure the clowns will love them. I am getting some yoyos to rid me of my infestation!

I think you may be having the same problem I was. If it was the free snails that the employees offered, then the way they are reproducing are on plants. I just cleaned out my tank yesterday and found 5 egg clusters with 10 eggs each. I now removed the snails.

Apple snails(mystery snails) are the ones Petsmart sells for 1.49 to 1.79. They reproduce sexually and they lay pinkish eggs in large clusters above the water line. If you don't find any apple snail eggs above the water line, you probably had a hitchhiker snail on a plant or something most likely common pond snails which multiply like mad.

agh, i remember my pond snail problem in my tank. when i had my 10 gallon, i bought some fish from my LFS, and i didn't know i had a hitchhiker. so after about a week i started noticing a couple of snails here and there, and then within two weeks, my filter was gettin clogged up from all of the snails, and my gravel seemed to be alive! thats when i had to clean out the whole tank, and kill all the snails. *that was the cleanest tank i ever had i think, LOL
