Snails

I have had a large amount of light colored spiral snails in my 55 gallon tank lately. They don't seem to be harming anything and all the fish are still acting like normal. The snails actually look like they are being helpful keeping the tank clean. I was wondering if they would survive in a goldfish pond outside to help keep it clean. Could they keep up with the temp. changes or would it kill them? I was just wondering. I would like to put some in the goldfish pond if they would adapt and live. Also, would they kill the live plants in the pond? Thanks in advance.

Depends on where you live, what winter and summer extremes are like, depth & volume of the pond, and how the pond is maintained, including source water.

Answer these questions and I can perhaps help you.

Doubtful the snails would kill established plants. Depends on the species of snail or plant, and the snails' foraging preference.
