Snails

when i first setting up my tank a year ago, i bought a couple live plants. One plant had a very small snail (baby) on it. he grew, and grew into the size of a nickel. a couple of days ago he disappeared from his shell (eaten most likely). Now all of a sudden i have like 5 or 6 baby snails in my tank. where did they come from

Have you added any more live plants to your tank?? They usually hitchhike on plants.

Have you added any new fish lately, could he have hitchhiked in that bag?
Alot of snails are asexual - meaning they can have babies without needing a second snail in the tank. Is there any way you can post a picture of your old snail so we can see what kind it is?

Sorry to ask a question in your thread, does anyone know where I can order some non-asexual snails online?

But back on-this-topic, I've had the hitchiker outbreak. Many times when snails are introduced to a new tank they release their eggs and there are tons of babies.
