Snails

Since my wife an I like more than just fish in our tank I bought a snail about a month or two ago. It was approximately 1/2 inch in size with an orange shell. It has been doing fine except that it has escaped twice. Also the new groth of shell is lighter in color and not as smooth as the more mature part.

Does anyone know anything about these snails (which I have seen sold as Mystery Snails) and what they prefer?

http://www.applesnail.net/ , here's a great website with everything you'll need to know and probably more. many times apple snails are mistakenly sold as mystery snails. The important thing to remember is these snails actually breath air so you need to leave an air space. The shell being irregular, is because the snail stopped growing their shell because of trauma (shipping, captivity) and now is starting to grow it again.
