Snails

My friend just got me 3 snails(dont know which kind), their about 1cm in diameter, and I was wondering if anyone knows if my clown loaches will eat them. Plz reply, thnx

Yes, most definately, yes. In fact, clown loaches are often purchased for that reason.....

no doubt. mine even ate the 1.49 a piece apple snails i bought last week... all 6! and theyre pretty good size.

i like snails. when they build up is the bad part. i didnt think theyd be able to eat a snail larger then them though. proved me wrong.

Maybe you could keep the snails in a separate tank (assuming they havent already been eaten). Snails to clown loaches are like ice cream to us =)

Well, I only have 1 tank now, won't be buying another until i move(in a month). And i have the 3 snails in a cut out 2-L bottle. But I want the snails in my tank cause it looks cool.

Pretty classy of you 420Loach to provide escargot for your fish. They never had it so good!

I didn't think they would eat the big ones . . . learn something new every day!

so i want to buy a couple of clown loaches to eat my snail problem but i suspect the snails are the cause of disease in my tank, so if the clowns eat the snails, what becomes of them? do they get the disease?

I don't think so, cause in nature, snails are more infested than in captivity and its one of clown loaches natural diet, so I highly doubt it.
