So excited about Neon Tetras

Hello All,

So, I went over to the Petco because they are having a sale on Neon Tetras for $1 each. I looked closely into the tank notice white spots on the tetras and dead dwarf frogs (about 5) and saw a couple of dead neon tetras. I looked at the other tanks saw a couple of other dead fish. I was kinda bummed and decided not to buy any fish from Petco and just bite the bullet and pay full price for the Neons. I drove over to the Petsmart and closely inspected the neons (zero white spots or dead fish). Neons for 1.99 each and I made up my mind to buy six. I asked for assistance and the Manager came over to help me with the fish, I told her my whole story about Petco...She also told me that they do price match that all I had to was bring the advertisement. I got 20 neons for $1 each (oh yeah). She called Petco asked how much they were selling them for instead of me driving over to get the advertisement.

Petsmart two thumbs up in my book.

Neons have such fabulous color, especially why I love the Cardinals that red stripe is just a bit longer! Beautiful!

Cardinals are beautiful!! but they are selling for $3.99 each. If they were $1 I would get them too ;-). But I am excited with the 20 neons I have. My fish tank is going to be neons only...

Oh definitely! Neons are just as beautiful, luckily not as expensive! I think Cardinals around here (small town) sell for 6-7 bucks, yikes!

You should post some photos of your tank with all of the neons

Neon tetras are great fish.
I wish I lived near a petco or a petsmart right now if they're a dollar; I need about ten of them right now.

here is my Neon Tank.

Fish: 20 neon Tetras

Plants: Java Moss, Java Ferns, Mondo Grass (temporary- will take out), Marino Moss Balls, Camboda (sp?), purple hornwort, amazon sword, and unkown plant.

Tank: Aqueon 25 Gallon Deluxe Plant Kit

at pj's pets (canadian chain store.) so many fish are coated in ich! Generally I'll point it out and they generally say "yeup, we're treating them.", then I come back in a few days and everything is dead... great job treating them! Recently I sent a complaint.

How do you count your neons! I try to do a head count once a day, but seldom succeed. I tried to count in your pictures and found 16, but then some could be behind the plants. (I was wondering if taking a picture would work when feeding)

I count them very carefully...actually, I only around for the dead ones (none at all).

I also think a couple of neons are mating. I've counted 8 of them have paired off, and doing the whole mating thing. It's pretty cool. I never thought about breeding them, I just wanted a tank with only neons. Neons remind me of my childhood, I use to have them as a kid and always been mesmerize by them.
