The cylindricus have spawned! And I didn't even know it.
They have been living in the 33gal Tang tank with the compressiceps since I purchased them from a friend not even a month ago. The female has been hanging out in the corner behind their cave for the last week or so, but I thought nothing of it...figured she was a big chicken and hiding. And the male seemed to pay absolutely no attention to her.
Well, I decided today to move them into their own breeding tank, to get the breeding ball rolling. I pulled the female out right away before moving anything, and then went to pull out her shell simply because she seemed to like it (there are about 5 other shells I could have put in there). I pulled it out, thankfully with some water still in it, and just before dumping it out, I spotted a few babies! When I pulled the rocks out of that corner, I discovered quite a large swarm of the little guys! I literally spent an HOUR catching as many of them as I could.
Because mom and dad were moved into a new tank, I didn't want to chance having caused enough of a disruption to have them eat the babies. So they are in a breeder box hanging out. I can't believe they bred so quickly!
Just had to share, I'm so excited!
(Oh, they're Neolamprologus cylindricus if anyone is wondering what I'm talking about, lol.)
