I'm just setting up my 10 gal tank. Most of the water in my house goes through the water softener, although I have one faucet that is "straight", un-softened water. Which water is better to use for my fresh water tank? I haven't seen that discussion anywhere.
Secondly, I have the usual aquarium gravel that I'm going to use, but I also have some plain, coarse sand that I have rinsed the heck out of to get rid of the "fine" particles. Is that sand OK to use?
Last, but not least, I have some rocks that I got from a gravel pit. They are about 1-3 inches in size or so. They are not porous rocks. Kind of like the kind that would wash up on shore of a lake or river. Would they be OK for use in a tank?
