Hi there, I just set up my 55 gallon tank about 3 weeks ago...or atleast it was done cycling 3 weeks ago. Anyways I only had 10 small fish from my previous tank to start with and last week 6 of them got ick. I put the 6 in quaritine and treated them, doing a 25% water change as much as possible and I raised the tempature to 80 degrees. 2 of the fish are completly better, but one died and the other 3 have this whitish slime on their fins and tail. Is this just a further part of ick? or is it something else?

thanks for your help brent

Oh boy, where to begin.....

Okay, what are the water parameters in the 55 -- ammonia, nitrite, nitrate? We should start by determining if your tank was truly completely cycled first. These numbers will help us determine that.

Secondly, what else did you do to treat the sick fish in quarantine, other than raising the temperature? How was the quarantine tank prepared for them? Also, what are the ammonia/nitrite/nitrate readings for your quarantine tank?

The slime is not ich, it is something else.
