Clown Plecos are awsome fish, I just put one in my twenty gallon. But they're a wood eater, not algea eater, although I have yet to see my little guy suck on the driftwood. I swear he's eating algae, but I can't prove it. Mostly he seems to like sucking on the glass and decor. I put an algea wafer in my tank every other day anyway for my other fish, just to round off the diet, so maybe he's eating that *shrug*.

They're great little plecos that don't grow much more than four inches. Usually they're secretive and nocturnal, but I guess I got lucky, mine seems more visual than most. It's only a 1/2 inch in size right now, sooo cute.

Oto's are probably your best bet for algae, and reducing light and nutrient levels, and a little manual scrubbing.

otos are awesome for eating alagae, they're often hard to find because they're such good algae eaters, they go fast in the pet stores, everybody wants them  :)But if you see one I'd buy it, they're really cute and do a great job at eating algae. Good Luck

One of my friends has a lion pleco in her 10 Gallon. He only gets to be about 3" long, and loves to eat algea.. Says he's the best algea eater shes had in a long time. And he's also out in the open alot, swimming around, but there hard to find, and pricyer them most other algea eaters.

Go Otos....my choice. Had 6 siamese algae eaters for my bad  brown algae problem. After the second dose of Algae Fix, lost all six. They had been doing an Ok job on cleaning up the last of it but still couldn't keep up. Got 5 otos last Saturday and now I really have to look for any spots of brown algae left.......they went to town on it....plants and all!
