Tigger got in a really nasty fight with his tank mate two weeks ago and he lost big time. The bully rammed him into the gravel and pushed him and tore off his scales half way down both sides of his body. We took the bully back to the LPS and put Melafix in the tank. He looks almost normal now! But now he has these two white places above his face where he was bitten a few times in the fight and I am worried they are HITH. He stayed still long enough for me to take this pic today so I hope it helps!

do you have a better picture?

it almost looks like you have some HITH going on bro.

check this link my fellow oscar keeper -

http://forums.oscarfish.com/viewtopic.php?t=17592&sid=641e5c18a64428e30c399d3f14500c08

these guys are the best source of oscar knowledge IMO, and the HITH article is very up to date, and is more accurate than the previously written HITH articles and their respective treatments.

i am almost 100% convinced that HITH is caused by high nitrate levels.

either way, you will want to do a water change.

Thanks for the reply. We are going to check the levels in the tank and go from there. Thanks for the link. Very interesting information there! I really think it is HITH since the rest of him has healed from the fight and this was a bite area but it is getting worse instead of better. I think the poor guys slime coat was just really damaged. Will look at HITH and see what we need to do for the dude.

Thanks!!
