Just yesterday I noticed my gourami has a spot on his side. It looks like skin missing. Almost like a rug burn for you and I. And his bottom fin looks like it is turning a darker color like black. Is he sick or is there such a thing they do like molting or something? My water test are amm. 0 nitrites 0 nitrates under 20. I do water changes every 5 days (30% or so). Thank you in advance for your help. Tina

I am no expert on fish illness by any means but sounds like just a scrape, any sharp decor or have you seen him being aggressive or any other fish harassing him?
Any chance of a pic?

Looking at your sig are you positive you have ottos, i have heard that chinesse algea eaters will chew on fish, not sure how true this is though.

P.S. not trying to insult you there but I have seen chinese alge eaters labled as ottos, I wouldnt know the difference if it wasnt for this forum..lol

That is what it looks like. I have no sharp objects in tank. One otto sleeps all day the other is out a lot during the day. Both are still until 2 inces. But will keep an eye on him. I trust my lfs but still mistakes can happen when naming fish. Thank you for your imput. Tina
