???Anybody know where I can get siamese algae eaters or florida flag fish here in orange county or I guess L.A. county.  I have checked out 10 different LFS around my area (DISNEYLAND!!!) but nothing.  Only see otos, CAE, and flying fox and most of these LFS owners don't even know what a SAE look like.

FFF is out of season in california. i tried calling all these fishstores and none had it. so i ended buying it on aquabid.com

but for SAE (the real one not CAE), my LFS has some available. i picked up two and they're doing a great job. the LFS is called Pasadena Tropical Fish located in Pasadena. It's near the 210freeway.

hope that helps!

Really didn't matter anyways.  They are all out of algae eaters.  Pretty big place though but I am not sure if they knew the difference anyways between a flying fox and a SAE.

Took me like 45 minutes to an hr. from Anaheim.  Stupid me, I should have called up instead.  I met an asian lady that was helping me out.  I usually don't like calling fish store to ask if they have siamese algae eaters.  I have to check it out myself.  I have a number of LFS that emphatically tell me that they have SAE but turn out to be CAE or flying foxes.  I feel like the people on the internet are way more informed than some of the LFS owner and workers.  That sucks! hehe.  Oh yeah, no FFF or SAE on aquabid and azgarden.com needs a 35 buck minimum order but I only want 2 SAEs.  I even forgot to buy SAE from them when I ordered my plants thinking that most LFS have SAEs.

No SAEs yet. Still recuperating from my credit card charges from azgarden last order.  They have some cheap SAEs but I can't buy 10 of them to meet the minimum order.  Need to wait and see if I need any other plants in the future or maybe you can order something. hehe

Hey, there is a small fish store in the Montclair area that I bought two flagfish from last week.  The name is tropical Fish House and pets.  Their number is (909) 624-6417.  They are off the 10 freeway at Central and Holt.  You may want to call first though because they only had a few.  (By the way the Pasadena store is nice.  I go there a lot too.)

Ok, I will check it out today also.  Third different fish store now under the board member's recommendations.  ;D.  I hope I get there before it closes though. hehe

Dont any of your fish stores order fish by request?

I just sign a book, or talk to the owner, and if he sees it, he will grab it and give me a call.

Try asking the manager or owner to do that for ya.

I did try asking a couple of store owners.  A couple of them didn't even know what a flag fish is and they didn't even know the difference between some of the algae eaters.  One didn't want to order because the owners states that not too many people buy them and she is not going to begin. Lol.  I am not going to order through someone if they can't even tell the difference.  I have a total of 3 flag fish now but no SAE.  None left in montclair or lakeforest.  Will wait and see. Thanks guys for the info.

That is too bad. The nice thing is, I dont have to put money down on my request. So if it isn't what I want, then I am not stuck with it. I just give then the scientific name, cause that is what they buy from the importers..not a "siamese algae eater".AT least that is what the guy told me.

Keep checking out the flying foxes...I have a SAE  that was labeled FF. I also have a False SAE that was labeled an otto. LOL, not even close. The False is better at the brush algae , then the SAE. Then again, he is in a different tank with less algae in it.
