starfish in new cycling tank - is that bad.

Hi all. i just got anothe 5Kg of LR today totaling 10Kg in my tank.

the LR has been in for about 1-2hr and iv noticed a couple of starfish (tiny ones) crawling around. is this bad. also i can hear a dreded popping sound << have i got a mantis shrimp.


(ill try to take a pic of the starfish if i can)

well, there isn't much you can do about the starfish im afraid...just have to see if they make it. if youve already got some LR in there (which i believe you did) it might be alright. popping sound could be a mantis or a pistol shrimp, again, tough to say unless you see/ID it

wheres the rock from? my bet is its a pistol, they pop all the time, mantis only when there gonna kill something
