starting a salt water

hey all!
I currently have a 10 gal, 5 gal, and a 2.5 gal, all fresh water tanks. This christmas, i got my present a lil bit realy...lol...and i got a 55 gal aquarium, that i have decided to use for salt water. I am just wondering what i should put in there...
What do i need?
what are the essentials to maintaining a healthy, happy envirnoment in my aquarium?
i prolly wotn put any fish in there until its been fully established for about 2 weeks.

There is a really good articla that is up as a sticky in this catagory that should answer alot of your questions as to what you need.

Well it depends on if you are going reef or not. My suggestion would be a FOWLR (Fish only with live rock) Get at least 10-20lbs of live rock. Use powerheads and a protein skimmer and that should get you started.
