Stinky?

quick question does a FOWLR tank stink?

cuz its going to be in my room and if it does i'll move it to my living room.

With proper filtration and water changes no tank should stink.

filtration? like a power filter?

im just using 2 powerheads and 20% water changes every week or so.

would that be enough and also the 10-15 lbs LR

i started thinking about this since i visted my LFS and man it stunk...probably the sump which was green all over...

but the tank full of LR that was for sale smelled a little bad..

Your current upkeep sounds fine.

The live rock does smell bad when it is curing (die-off of some creatures that didnt surive shipping die and they smell), but when established a tank does not smell foul, only if you sniff close to the water then it has an ocean smell to it.

i started thinking about this since i visted my LFS and man it stunk.

LFS's have much more die off than most of us... I hope..... and the fact that they have LOTS more water volume than we could ever dream of most of the time*SLEEPING*

You can run carbon on your system to remove foul smells if needed.
