OK I was given a Goldfish the other day along with a huge plecko! My problem is that the goldfish has somethig growing on his sides. It kind of looks like mold that grows on bread, but it is white not green. It is the strangest thing I have ever seen, and I cant figure out what it is.

Has anybody ever seen, heard, or know what it is. And how do you treat it?

If you need it I will attach a few pics later.

Do they look like grains of salt? It sounds like you may have ich. I reccomend taking him out of whatever tank he is in if there are other fish in it and doing a big water change. Yes a pic would be helpful.

Well let me start out by saying thank you for all your replies and help. I have identified it as body fungus, and have isolated this fish for treatment with Jungle's Fungus treatment. I will post pics in a few days once he gets better so you can see the unreal size of this goldfish. Then I will post pics of my 45 gallon Japanese tank for you all as well.

And Lotus thanks for the link to help identify what it was.
