the stupid thing wont eat i tried bloodworms he ate about 3. i tried feeders he is to slow to get one. does it take a few days to get used to a new tank because it has been 2 days and he runs from my segnal who is trying to be friends. IS it normal for them to be scared like that i mean he is like 1 adn a half inches adn so why dont he just fight for food. :confused:


oh ya guys for now on i am going to put the drummer at the end of all my posts.

Well, first of all he is hidding that way prob. because he thinks of himself as dinner. How big is the oscar? Hope you got a large tank. 1.5" is really not a great size to be "fighting" for food...especially against an oscar.

1.5" is pretty small to be eating feeders anyway, try different things...even flakes, pellets, chopped worms...A lot of fish don't eat for a few days after being introduced into a new tank.

What else is in the tank?

well since he is so small i decided to give him his own 10 gal tank with a bumblebee catfish. Well until he gets bigger. Sadley the oscar will be sold when he gets to big(proable in 2 months or so) . Should i try bloodworms. oh ya i just measured him he is actually 2 in.

Dude - my Bumblebee takes prey more than half his own size - watch out - lol

2 days isn't enough time to let a fish settle to judge its behaviour - could take a week or more. Same deal with the Oscar - they'll either get along or it's Sushi time - it'll be up to the Oscar to make the decision.

Good luck - you're gonna need it...........

You really know how to pick them don't you......

You're going to sell the oscar when it gets too big? How big do you think cichla get - you think oscars are big - they are comparatively little? You need to come back from outer space.

How many weeks are you going to keep it in the 10? Watch it with feeding, this thing will likely grow at least an inch month till it hits a year or so in age....
