what is the best substrate to put in a cichlid tank ?

Sandblasting Sand

Go to cement/concrete place and get "Medium grit Sandblasting sand" it's super cheap 100lbs for about 5$. It's really pretty and looks natural. My plants do real well in it. It has also been sterilized, so its super clean. NO washing just add it.

Crushed Coral. Keeps the pH higer, they like that.

whatever you get just make sure its fine as hell.....sand is the best.
the cichlids suck it in their mouths and blow it out their gills its phat to watch.
