The 55 is very nearly cycled and is doing well. (close to 0 nitrites, a good number of nitrates within safe limits, etc)

So, what fish should I add next when I get paid on the third week of December? The current list of fish that are in the tank is below in my sig. There are 12 of them now with the largest being the Pearl Gourami (who eats from my hand now and likes to come close whenever I am at the top of the tank) which is 3.5in.

Since there aren't any bottom feeders, should I bring them in next? (The 3 Gouramis are picking up food from the bottom ALOT!)

The Clowns I want are overpriced at the LFS closest to me. So, I will take a trip to the more distant one unless I can talk some reason into the LFS nearby. (They are charging $14.99 for small clowns, which, I believe is the LARGE going rate- 3 to 5 inches.) I have never seen Ottos around here, unfortunately.

So, any suggestions for who should join the group of current miscreants?

Here 2 inch clowns cost $10 while 1 inchers go for $5 and 3 inchers go for $15 but as long as I've shopped at my lfs (almopst 3 months) they've been on sale for $12. At least around here the going rate seems to be $5 per inch. Neither clown loaches nor fish stores seem to be very prevelant around here.

get african cichlids, maybe 20-25 mbuna or 10 peacocks/haps they are much more interesting, although it would cost you quite a bit to get them all, and with mbunas youd need to get alot of rock work, but its worth it i love my peacocks/haps

Have you thought about getting something other than clowns? I've been seeing a lot of others, such as blue and skunk loaches recently. I'm sure that there have to be other loaches that are at least reasonably diurnal.

I'll search around for clowns and check prices. I've also seen YoYo's and was thinking of them.

Corys are a definite thought as long as the gouramis don't bother them.

Not like you asked everyone how much clown loaches are, but I figured I'd join in. See, I live in NH, and here EVERYTHING and your mother is expensive. However, clown loaches don't cost ridiculously as much as everyone else has mentioned. Clown Loaches are like $1.99 or so. I've seen them as high as $3.99.
I have a Raphael Striped Catfish, and they're awesome, unless they have things to hide under or in, cuuz then you'll never see then. Corys are always cool too, but you do have to buy them in triple or more, because they enjoy hte company of their own kind.........

You people have the cheapest clowns I've ever heard of. A 1-2 inch clown loach around here is $15 and larger ones cost you your leg, left arm, and your soul.

In your sig you have cories... and a rapheal, those look like bottom feeders to me =). Oh well. Anyway, if your going w/ loaches get burmese border loaches. I figure if you buy something, nobody better have it. Bragging rights!

What kind of rainbows do you have. Please please don't tell me you have bosmanis. Everyone and their brother has em.

I'd add some diamond shaped tetras like bledding hearts or blue flames and also the ever grand cherry barbs. Super sweet fish and yes I know everyone has em. They're just so cool...

I'm guessing that you all didn't notice that this thread was started in December...I'm pretty sure TomV has since stocked his tank :) (which would explain his signature fishysmell)

im sorry prhelp....was that directed at me? I noted that fishysmell said something about Tom's signature saying that he had some bottom feeders and that his question was partially about adding some bottom feeders so I figured I would point out that the question was asked in December and that he's probably since stocked the tank and updated his signature since then...
