I just got a 75 gal tank and I'm trying to decide which canister filter I want to get. I'm looking at the Fluval 404 and the Magnum 350 but I'm open to anything that is good. Anybody have any suggestions or comments??? Thanks

The new Fluval x04 series are great. I love my 304, very easy to maintain, very quiet. I have it in my living room and you can't hear it. The comparable Eheims are much more expensive, but even more quiter I have been told. They have a couple of different designs a range of features. Which of the 2 brands are better? Kind of like asking people about Ford or Chevy....

I like Ehiem too. Though I haven't run the other canister brands. Canisters are kinda tricky to setup at first but they do a great job at keeping the tank clean. Especially for biological filtration because you can put the rocks in there for the bacteria to colonize on. The only thing I have against Ehiem is their documentation leaves a lot to be desired for and they give you a standard book with all the different languages. So it's good to have as clear of mind as possible or have someone who knows ehiem stuff closeby when setting it up the first time.

Eheims are what I use and I love them. Like most say, more money, but built better and may last longer than other brands. I thought there was a thread a while back talking about the Filstar's and how their up there with the Eheims in quality, but a little cheaper, maybe try a search for that.

I almost bought one of the Eheim Ecco's for my 34gal tank, but ended up getting the low end Eheim Pro instead cuz it was on sale and only like $20 more :D. I'd be curious though to see if their as good as the professional line.
