hello all,

my 25g is looking very empty in the area of fish.. the plants are doing absolutely wonderful ! anyway, my tank is currently home to 2 small male mollies and a cosby gourami. I would like to get some more fish for the tank. but i dont want any livebearers! ive always wanted to give firemouths a go. but i am taking it past you guys first, can they live on their own and would they be able to get along with my existing fish.

if not, any other suggestions ??

I'd say you're tanks a bit small for firemouths.. Well, you could keep a pair in there easily but you wouldn't be able to keep anything else in case they bred and got aggressive as cichlids do.

If you want some sort of centrepiece you could go with keyhole cichlids or flag cichlids, a pair of either would work well. I'd also go for some form of shoaling fish such as rasboras or tetras, whichever takes your fancy.

From my experience Firemouths are to aggressive for the tank mates that are currently in your tank. I would suggest tetras and some cories possibly. Loaches are interesting too.

i like the idea of flag cichlids.. im also interested in khuli loaches, or packistani loaches

Flag cichlids would be a very nice choice. i happened to love the pair i had

Sounds like a plan Just be careful there are no escape routes for the kuhlies.. crafty little things when it comes to getting out of the tank..

Or, you could do a pair of German blue rams or Bolivian butterfly rams.

Bass sounds good ill keep thinking about it till i go to the LFS
