Sump Questions

Hi,
I have a 55g saltwater tank and its been running about a year now and I do not have a sump. Should I have a sump??? I know this is really dumb but I get different answers from people and need to know to sump or not to sump. I am thinking about getting a RO system instead of a sump what is more beneficial *BOUNCINGS

Rather get a RODI system and have a skimmer. A sump will help with water volume, but is not a necessity.
