Hi All,

I have a 58 gallon saltwater Oceanic System tank. Over the weekend I purchased an Oceanic Sump, Mag Drive 950 pump, and Custom Sea Life Helix 36W UV Sterilizer. The store I purhchased the equipment from recomended that I connect the output from the pump via 5/8 in ID fex hose to the UV and then out from there via 5/8 in ID to the bottom leg of a "T" and then out from the other legs of the "T" to the tank via 5/8 in ID tubing.

Here is my question. I called the manufacturer of the pump and they recomend that I use 1 in ID tube out of the pump since 5/8 in ID will reduce the flow capacity of the pump.

How should I hook this up? The pump is rated at 950 gallons/hour with the 1 in ID output and 0 head pressure. The UV is 500 gallons/hour.

Thanks
Rich

You most likely have this solved by now but if by chance you don't I will offer my thoughts.

Go 1 inch from the pump to the bottom of the T and then 5/8 from there to the two tank returns. I have done a tank like this and baised on your tank size, I dare say that your flow rate shoud be good, to Very Good.

The combined I/D of the two return lines isll off load the head pressure and performancce in your system should be stunning.

Good Luck.

If you split the tube you also have more versitility with your set up, one side of the return you can put the UV sterylizer and on the other you could (if nescessary at one point) add another sterylizer or something else that would enhance your tank to it.
