Surface feeders Recommendations!!

I have tiger barbs which are a middle lower fish but wish to buy some top level feeders any suggestions?

If your lid is very very well secure maybey some hatchetfish. How many Gallons is it?

African Butterfly Fish are true surface dwellers. I have heard that some people have difficulty keeping them, however I have one that is three + years old and he eats flakes and bloodworms. And sometimes the odd small danio! They are also known to be jumpers, however I have had really good luck with mine.

my tank is a 20G i think i dont like the hatchets i think they look a bit ugly, and would they be ok with tiger barbs

with surface feeders your tank's footprint will come into play...do you know if it's a 20 gallon LONG or HIGH?

i would put in a small school of the smaller hatchets..

ahh thats a normal 20gal, i would reccoemend a school of 3-4 smaller hatchets as most other surface fish need more room than that.

that sounds like a 20 gallon HIGH which has a smaller footprint than a 20 gallon LONG.

Hatchets are cool fish I had 5 or 6 some time ago and plan on getting more soon for my daughters 10 gallon.

Just get 5 for the ten and make sure it is well covered.

yea its just a stanard 20G tank, if i dont get hatchers are their anything else?

I've always found tiger barbs to feed all over the tank (top, middle and bottom). Make sure you don't put any slower feeders in there, as the tiger barbs will hog all the food. Danios might work.

To be honest, a school of tiger barbs would probably exclude any other schooling fish, simply because of the bioload.

I have a school of 6 Tiger barbs and they will eat rihgt off of the surface. I would say they just started about 3 days ago. I also started to feed them the frozen food. They love that.

Needle fish are pretty calm top dwellers that will be sufficient for a 20g.
I have mine with a mix of catfish, Danios, and sharks.

Killifish are small, awesome fish that stay at the top of the tank most of the time.
