I am planning on buying 2 tanks from someone in a few days. I know one of them is/was setup as a SW tank. The other I believe is FW. As long as I give it a good cleaning, is there anything to be wary of when converting a SW tank to a FW tank?

i'd wash it down of a diluted bleach solution then rinse rinse rinse! most SW critters will die in FW which is to you advantage. otherwise, i dont forsee any major issues when converting. what size tanks did you buy?? i see MTS is settling in!

Should be fine with just a good cleaning and a rinse. If you use diluted bleach, make sure it doesn't smell bleachy afterwards and throw in some extra dechlorinator just in case (dechlorinator deactivates bleach). Rinse that live rock off REALLY good if you want to use it in FW, because its probably got some old dead stuff in it from when it was removed from SW and dried out.

MTS? Multiple Tank Syndrome? LOL (just guessing)

MAN if I would have known this was going to happen, I might have never gottan any fish at all! LOL I am completely addicted to fish now, and now that we're getting better housing for the snakes, I will have WAY too many free aquariums and I feel that I must fill at least half of them! LOL

OK sorry for the hijack, back to the topic on hand. (I know NOTHING about SW quite yet, so I can't be of much help, sorry)

I bought my 75 gallon all covered in salt from the previous owner. I scrubbed it with brand new towels and hot hot water and wiped it out really well a couple times and I haven't had any problems. I personally wouldn't even want to mess with bleach or anything in it, if anything use vinegar and water.
