Hi, I'm writing on behalf of rommel39, whose computer is in the shop. About a week ago, his two female bettas, who have been friends since they entered the tank, suddenly turned on each other and had a pretty serious fight. The smaller one received the brunt of the trauma. The bettas were seperated - one kept in the regular tank, and one removed to a smaller 10 gallon. He applied melafix for the fin shreddage. The two fish seemed to be recovering, but later this week the smaller one, who had remained in the big tank, started staying near the top of the tank and not moving. Rommel39 swapped the two fish. The one acting peculiar was put in the hospital tank. Now she lies on the bottom of the tank and cannot swim properly. She appears to have a swim bladder problem. Is there any cure for swim bladder disorders caused by sudden trauma?

As far as I know, if it's some kind of internal injury, there's nothing you can do but hope for the best :(

Keep the water clean and the temp stable. Melafix may help.

You might try not feeding for a day or two to see if it helps, in case there is some kind of intestinal blockage.
